Private schools across Punjab have urged the provincial government to release the long-awaited academic calendar, saying the continued delay is creating uncertainty for schools, students, and parents.
With the new academic session already underway, school administrations say a clear academic schedule is essential for planning examinations, vacations, admissions, co-curricular activities, and other educational responsibilities. They believe the absence of an official calendar is making it difficult to organize the academic year effectively.
Education stakeholders have stressed that weather-related challenges, including heatwaves, smog, and winter conditions, make planning even more important. They say schools need a predictable framework to manage academic activities while ensuring the safety and well-being of students.

Private school representatives also emphasized the importance of maintaining at least 210 teaching days during the academic year. According to them, frequent and unexpected holidays can disrupt learning, affect syllabus completion, and place additional pressure on students and teachers.
School owners noted that the School Education Department, Punjab, had previously sought recommendations from private educational institutions while preparing the academic calendar. Several proposals submitted by stakeholders were reportedly welcomed, raising expectations that the calendar would be finalized soon.
However, despite repeated discussions and announcements regarding educational reforms, the official document has yet to be released. This delay has led to growing concern among school operators who say they need clear guidance to plan academic activities and assessments efficiently.
Parents have also expressed interest in the early release of the calendar, as it helps families plan vacations, examinations, and other commitments around the school year. A fixed schedule can reduce confusion and improve coordination between schools and households.

Private schools have called on the Punjab government to finalize the calendar without further delay and provide schools with a clear roadmap for the remainder of the academic year. They say an early announcement would help bring stability to the education sector and allow institutions to focus fully on improving student learning.
