Khyber Medical University (KMU) has successfully completed its first fully computer-based admission test, marking a major step toward digital transformation in higher education. The university introduced the paperless examination system to improve transparency, efficiency, and fairness in the admission process.
The KMU Centralized Admission Test (CAT) 2026 was conducted for admissions to Pharm-D, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), BS Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Public Health, and several other undergraduate programs. According to the university, 18,165 candidates registered for the entrance test, while more than 18,000 students appeared.
To facilitate candidates, KMU established 23 computer-based examination centers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. The centers were equipped with modern computer systems, high-speed internet, uninterrupted power backup, CCTV surveillance, and on-site technical support to ensure the examination was conducted without disruption.
The university also implemented strict security arrangements. Every candidate underwent biometric verification, identity confirmation, and security screening before entering the examination hall. These measures were introduced to strengthen merit-based admissions and eliminate the possibility of impersonation or unfair practices.

One of the biggest highlights of the new digital system was the instant result facility. Unlike the previous paper-based exams, candidates were able to view their scores immediately after completing the test through KMU’s computerized assessment system. The feature significantly reduced waiting time and enhanced the overall admission experience for students.
Speaking about the successful implementation, KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Ziaul Haq said the university remains committed to promoting innovation, transparency, and merit through the use of modern technology. He added that the successful conduct of the examination demonstrates KMU’s ability to adopt international standards in testing and assessment.
Education experts believe the move could encourage other universities across Pakistan to introduce similar computer-based entrance examinations. Digital testing not only speeds up the admission process but also minimizes human errors in paper checking and result compilation.
