The Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) has introduced a major change to make Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) examinations more student-friendly. The board has decided that two-year DIT examinations will now be conducted with question papers available in both Urdu and English, allowing students to choose the language they understand best.
According to PBTE officials, the new bilingual examination system is aimed at reducing language barriers and ensuring that students are assessed on their technical knowledge and practical skills rather than their proficiency in a single language. The decision is expected to improve students’ confidence and overall performance during examinations.
The board has also issued an official notification confirming the implementation of the bilingual question papers for DIT exams. Students will receive exam papers containing both Urdu and English versions of each question, making it easier to understand the instructions and answer accurately.
Education experts believe this initiative will particularly benefit students from government colleges and rural areas, where many learners are more comfortable studying in Urdu while technical terminology is often taught in English. The bilingual format is expected to create a fairer examination environment for all candidates.
