The Punjab government is planning centralized CCTV monitoring at examination centers for MDCAT 2026 to strengthen security, transparency, and discipline during the medical entrance test.
The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has approached the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) to help establish the required monitoring arrangements across the province.
Under the proposed system, a centralized monitoring unit will receive access to CCTV cameras installed at MDCAT examination centers. Officials will be able to monitor activities at the centers in real time during the test.
The surveillance plan is intended to provide an additional layer of security and help maintain a peaceful and controlled examination environment. Continuous monitoring can also help authorities respond quickly if any security or disciplinary issue occurs.
MDCAT is a mandatory admission test for students seeking admission to public and private medical and dental colleges in Punjab. Thousands of candidates are expected to participate in the examination.
According to the announced arrangements, MDCAT 2026 examination centers will be established in 15 cities across Punjab. These include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Gujrat, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Layyah, Bahawalnagar, Mianwali and Rahim Yar Khan.
The introduction of centralized CCTV monitoring reflects the government’s focus on transparent and secure medical entrance examinations. It can also help authorities oversee examination centers from a central location rather than relying only on staff present at individual venues.
Candidates should continue to follow the official MDCAT instructions regarding admission cards, reporting requirements, prohibited items, and examination-day rules. Any final instructions about the monitoring system and center arrangements will be communicated through the relevant authorities.
The CCTV initiative is expected to make exam security and monitoring more organized, while giving authorities greater oversight of the examination process across Punjab.
