Punjab’s School Education Department has moved to take action against heads of government schools that recorded a zero percent result in Class 9 examinations.
The department has also asked officials to provide detailed information about schools with 0% results across the province. The move aims to identify institutions facing serious academic performance issues.
The issue became particularly prominent after the Rawalpindi Board Class 9 annual examinations, where 184 schools recorded zero percent results. The list reportedly included 81 government schools.
Among the affected institutions, 91 schools were located in Rawalpindi, while 35 were in Attock and 26 in Chakwal. The figures also included 24 schools from Jhelum, 10 from Murree and 8 from Talagang.

According to officials, heads of schools with zero percent results are expected to receive show-cause notices. They may be asked to explain the reasons behind the poor academic performance before the department considers further proceedings.
The department is also expected to examine schools and officers showing repeatedly weak examination results. This will help authorities determine whether poor performance is an isolated issue or part of a continuing academic problem.
