The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has postponed the announcement of the Matric Science Group results to complete an additional verification process after an unexpectedly high number of students secured A-1 and A grades. The board says the short delay is intended to ensure that every student’s result is accurate and transparent before it is officially released.

According to Acting Chairman Syed Sharaf Ali Shah (Masharraf Rajput), nearly 175,000 students appeared in the SSC Part-II (Class 10) Science Group examinations this year. Of these, around 86,000 candidates achieved A-1 and A grades, a figure significantly higher than previous years.
To maintain the credibility of the examination system, BSEK has launched a special verification process, commonly referred to as “super checking.” Under this process, answer sheets, award lists, and compiled marks are being cross-checked to eliminate any possibility of errors before the final result is uploaded.
The board clarified that the verification is not a re-examination and does not indicate any issue with students’ performance. Instead, it is a quality assurance measure designed to ensure that every mark awarded is correct. Officials said the review is being carried out by experienced senior teachers rather than regular board staff to strengthen transparency.
BSEK also shared an update on its plan to introduce digital e-marking. The board had intended to use electronic marking for Mathematics and Computer Science papers this year, but the project could not be fully implemented because the required software testing was incomplete and the necessary servers were not available in time.
During a pilot project, around 62,000 Computer Science answer sheets were checked through the e-marking system. However, officials found nearly 35% variation between electronic and manual marking, making the system unsuitable for official result preparation this year.
As a result, the 2025 Matric Science results will be based entirely on manual checking and verification. The board said it is working to improve the digital marking system so it can be introduced successfully in future examinations, including Class 9.

Students and parents have been advised to remain patient and rely only on official BSEK announcements regarding the revised result schedule. The board emphasized that the brief delay is aimed at protecting students’ interests and ensuring that the final results are fair, accurate, and error-free.
